Maybe not so much of repair, more to 'refuel' =p

lately been to pitstop one cafe, located at ss17. one look from the outside, i quickly concluded that it's just some cafe, like any other cafe. i went in with zero expectations, expecting the norm.

well, they proved me wrong. it's not like any other cafe. on the interior, the arrangements of tables and chairs are simple enough, however spacious. design wise, the lower half of the walls are painted to look like those red brick walls, upper half plainer with some flower pots on the shelves on the wall. just beside the counter, there's a whole cabinet/shelf of board games. they range from simple card games, to complicated time consuming board games like RISK! yeah they do have risk lol.

i have to admit though the board games available are really eye catching; various diverse choices and lots of never before seen board games. it does make you feel like a kid once again, temporarily though.

the menu prepared by them are real simple. just ignore the food from the main menu, look at the sets as all the foodstuff found in the menu are available in sets. a set would include a soup, drink, main course and dessert. prices range from rm13-rm20+ for a set. my order was cereal fish & chips it costs about rm19 for a set. i would say its decently priced for a cafe, or maybe slightly overpriced. students with student cards are entitled to a 10% discount. i'm not sure about the others but my portion tastes not bad. would give it a 4/5.

<img style="display: block; unsure about the rules and stuff.. the staff will also take his time to explain to you the rules of the game. definitely never had this sort of personal services before lol.

<img style="display: block; i'm there for a poster presentation on our last CRP thematic project. the trip was supposed to be borne fully by the faculty/university/some gov organisation that i've forgotten the name. i put 3 names as the 3 are pushing the funds claim here and there. no matter what the outcome is, the deputy dean assured that the funds would be given by the faculty if the university doesn't agree to fund us.

and not to mention that i'm actually sharing my funds with the editor for my CRP group. i thought it would be fair as the CRP poster was a result of all our coursemates' work. therefore it would be 50% sponsorship.

anyhow its winter in taipei. snowless winter. it's been all the while like that. temperatures were bearable, ranging from 15-20 degrees centigrade. it's been cloudy the first 2 days, good thing it didnt rain or else we'll be freezing.

although our main purpose was supposed to be the conference, the secondary reason we were there was to relax and do some sight seeing. or is it the other way around?

yes taipei. i would never imagine myself go there alone. never. chinese is foreign to me. haha! but i must say that they really made effort to include english wordings everywhere for the ease of a banana or ang moh to navigate around the city.

although the conference schedule is kinda packed, we do manage to walk around as we skipped most of the afternoon sessions =p

went sight seeing... guided by our tour guide LOL

there's another CRP group that applied for the conference. my friend and her group's editor confirmed the trip too. she has been to taiwan before this. and she's super familiar with the city. she's familiar till some locals over there asked her if she has any relatives living in taiwan. she would make a good tour guide =p

that would make the numbers 4. 2 from each group. our tour guide actually invited a friend of hers to taiwan. therefore total number is 5.

although the trip is short (departuring from taiwan at 08/09), well i really enjoyed taiwan. it's such a beautiful country. i went there without any expectations, came back loving the city so much. haha!

ENT

Case summaries. Been quite busy doing duties in accident and emergency in UH. Duties from either 8-4pm or 4-11pm. To be called trauma centre I suppose, soon; as the criteria to being recognized as a trauma centre has yet to be fulfilled. That what Dr. T told me.

To start things off, I can say that I really REALLY enjoyed my posting. My first posting where i managed to do so many stuff, which we dont get to do in other minor postings for now. Practical stuffs. Managed to observe ATLS & ACLS too. Certain procedures too. And the best part is the ever helpful Dr which always explains & questions us about the procedures, explaining after listening to our answers/opinions and relates it to our basic sciences which we learn long long ago during my first year. HAHA! One of the best teachers i've ever had in faculty.

Just finished my A&E posting, kinda miss it. Although tiring, but enjoying it very much. Well gotta look forward to the next posting.
A&E only have one catch, yes 1 only.
Their paeds emergency room is super boring especially during the day shift.

Kiss The Girl...

Ring any bells? I dont care, I dont care whatever people want to tell me, what my friends say about her. Must... go... visit... her... tomorrow!

Yup that's what i'll do alright. Visit her, and satisfy my needs, my cravings of her. I might sound a little bit pervy but i dont care. Say what you all want. I'll just proceed with my plans.

I couldn't take it anymore, the photos I saw online, the smell that lingers in my head. It seems that everything is pointing towards her. Is this area numb? (while pressing on her arm)
Pt: I can't feel my hand doctor. I'm afraid. (shivering badly)
Dr: Can u feel anything ma'am? Is it pain if I press here?

Well, pain relieve. Thats what everyone thought anaesthesiology is all about. Hands up if u're one of them. Dont worry, I'm one of them too =p . Hm, or shall i say, WAS one of them?

Pain is something disturbing. Something annoying. Something uneasy. Something destructive?
Well, it can be any of those. In fact hospitals in a few countries have also adopted the concept of pain as the 5th vital sign beginning with the US. It's as if it is as important, as valuable as the other 4 vital signs which are temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.

Perhaps, pain, unlike the other vitals wouldn't cause death if there's abnormality with them. Direct death not. Indirect maybe. But pain is what every living beings wouldn't want to experience, to put it properly, would like to experience it less. Prolonged or very bad pain would really affect a person's life. From daily activities to their psychological state of the mind. Pain would really scar them... for life if it's severe enough. Like what my cousin experienced during his childhood days, which he claimed that he wasnt given any analgesia before the procedure to remove an abscess from his gluteus region. It was pain alright, he said he could recall exactly how it felt like, even to the extent of feeling the pain when he recalled the incident.

Aside from pain, anaesthesiologist also deal with patients in the intensive care unit. They try their best to keep the patient's 4 vital signs within the normal range for one to be able to live. I guess thats the signs which indicate u're dead or alive.

They also play a part in calming down the patients, putting off their anxieties. And assist them by general anaesthesia if the patient fails to calm down. It all comes to aiding n relieving both patients and the surgeon. I guess the job must be a little boring? I'm not sure. I could only see them monitoring the patient over the procedures. Most of the patients are already screened properly before being allowed to do surgery. Therefore, there's nothing much for an anaesthethist unless the patient unexpectedly have some sort of complications.

Well, for the madam mentioned above, she came in for an operation to repair her broken humerus. She's a 70-odd year old lady. Even before the surgery, in the waiting room, she already voiced out her concerns to us. Although tried to calm her down, she remains anxious. She was due to be operated on using only a brachial plexus regional block. However, she still remained anxious and worried. Which prompted the usage of general anaesthesia, which was her own suggestion anyways. Good thing she's fit enough for it. General anaesthesia can kill, just like how i killed my simulated patient post-operation. LOL

I would still say ophthalmo sounds more fun =p

2 Weeks Ended

2 weeks of ophthalmology.
possibly a little too short for us to really have master the posting.
what a waste, really enjoyed the posting. till the very last drop.
good academicians, doctors showing good examples, every question being answered appropriately.
kinda reluctant to leave that posting =p
the end of posting questions were pretty straightforward too.

we all say that the heart and the brain, are the 2 most important organs in the body.
some argued hearts' the most important, some opted for brain.
however, eyesight is what a human treasured most.
that's what i could learn from patients i talk to.
most with an eye condition which is not fully curable or have a lower chance of recovery,
worry over all their activities, their hobbies, their jobs.
some went into depression.
and it's particularly sad, if someone with a curable poor vision, goes for a surgery, ended up worse.
it's depressing.
i could only offer to listen, thats what i could do for now, as a student.

National Day

31st of August.
Well, every year celebrations held as to remember the country's independence.
Happy merdeka celebrations. Unlucky?
I guess it works both ways. Felt bad for the patient though.
She's a 70+ y/o, came in for a cataract surgery.
However, the method used wasn't phacoemulsification.
Extracapsular cataract extraction (ECCE) was preferred over phaco for her case.
Phaco is only done in those w less opaque or dense lens. A bad cataract which is totally opaque would automatically be removed using ECCE.
It is said that phaco would fail on a dense lens.
Compared to phaco where u get 2 tiny little scars requiring no sutures, ECCE is the removal of the lens without breaking it down.
Therefore, a larger incision is needed.
However during the procedure, after insertion of the lens, the lens doesnt stay in place. It somehow sinks.
Thats when they start to notice that actually the posterior capsule of the lens is ruptured. The posterior capsule is not removed in modern cataract surgery as it acts as a bag for the artificial lens.
Surgery prolonged, restless patient, some not-so-happy doctors. Patient's restless, u can see her moving her lower limbs around, the eyeball too.
And occassionally some instruction from the doctors to tell the lady not to move her eyes.
Once it's ruptured, the vitreous from the eye will ooze out into the anterior chamber of the eye which is located in front of the lens.
The anterior chamber only contains aqueous. Once the vitreous enters the anterior chamber, it can clog up the trabecular meshwork, causing it to slow down the removal of aqueous indirectly causing a higher pressure in the anterior chamber and glaucoma.
The vitreous is actually very mucus like. Therefore if u pull some of the vitreous out, it will also pull out the remaining vitreous at the back.
So in order to remove it, vitrectomy must be performed. Vitrectomy sucks the vitreous out but at the same time cuts it too to avoid pulling out the vitreous at the back.
Cutting rate is at about 100+ per minute.
However there's still loss of vitreous. Loss of vitreous is usually associated with retinal detachment, another more serious cause of vision loss.
Well, what's happened already happened. The specialist say that actually the risk of posterior capsule rupture is the same in both ECCE and phaco.
He also mentioned that any small mistakes can cause the capsule to rupture. It's a fragile structure.
Too bad for her, I hope she recovers well, without any further complications.

Ophthalmology

My first posting in phase IIIb.
Basically it's formed by 2 greek words, ophthalmo- means eye and -logy means the study of.
Although it's just the 3rd day of my phase IIIb, I've never feel so busy before for a minor posting.
Perhaps i didnt work as hard in Klang? =p or maybe it could be the holidays.
No matter how minor the posting is, well, we gotta sit for exams, very soon.
This posting will only last for 2 weeks, and in 2 weeks we should be able to master the basics of ophthalmology.
My group's one of the largest. It's bad. Really.
It's just so crowded for all of us to squeeze into a small room.
Even the profs and some drs voice their suprise over the size of our group.
Well, we'll just have to bear with it, till IF there's any rearrangement of groups as all the groups weren't balanced now due to elective schedules.
It's a possibility that the admins will consider says my elective coordinator.
Back to ophthalmology, all the lecturers that I had so far are good. They're really good at teaching. No joke.
Patient and dedicated as well. It's just helps. Indirect motivation.
On the first day itself, I had my first ever on-call =p
It's fun as finally I'm given the chance to insert brannulas and give IV drugs.
Hands on stuff are usually fun. This is just the beginning i suppose. Prolly i'll get bored of it somewhere in the future when it's a routine.
Today just went to the ophthalmo OT. Observed 3 eye surgeries, both which is done by super nice prof choo. 2 of it are cataract surgeries.
Cataract is defined as a complete or partial opacity of the ocular lens.
Both cataract surgeries watched are using phacoemulsification. It's the best technique available so far.
It allows cataract surgeries to be done without the need of suturing the wound. The incision wound is just so tiny, usually will just be left for self healing as long as the wound does not leak out the aqueous (eye fluid).
The bleeding from it is also minimal. Phacoemulsification uses ultrasound to break down the opacified lens of the eye. The lens which are broken down will then be sucked out through the probe which is inserted through the small incision.
A replacement lens is then folded and compressed into a small injector. There's a need to fold/compress it as the incision is just too small for the lens to go through.
The lens will then be injected into the eye and placed accordingly.
After that some cleaning of the eye will be performed, and tadaaaaa...surgery completed. The whole process takes only about 45 minutes to complete done by the very experienced professor.
Oh ya and i forgot to mention the patient is only on local anaesthetics which means the patients are very much aware of what's happening and not sedated.
So their eyeballs are moving here and there at times during the surgery. lol..

I wanna stay put

2 weeks seems so short.
just cant get enough of it.
i'm sure majority shared the same feeling.
how cosy, comfy..
homecooked food & no alarm clocks.
what a bliss! =p
still wanted to hang around at home, my lazy bum bum is just too hard to lift off from the chair.
like it or not, class is starting tmrw.
lethargic, just the thought of it.
however, i should be thankful for all the holidays i have.
if i realized how lucky i am, compared to a few others.
goodluck guys!

Time off

Finally some rest for my eyes.
Had some catching up with my buddy.
Been straining it since the end of my finals.
All no thanks to the culprit, my lappie!
Anyhow, no love's lost. LOL! i just cant let my gaze off optimus.. he's just so.. noble! although he's CGI-ed hah! he was the main character of course(at least in my eyes).. le beouf must be sad, losing to some virtual/imaginary "actor" haha.

that all for now. i gotta infuse myself with some mood to study. really envy those who have the mood. lets just pray that i'll be berserking upon sight of books and go on a study rampage. wish me luck!

Tinker, Krobelus, Storm Spirit

Side tracking from studies, perhaps these were the 3 best heroes at the moment. Can either play support/gank/killer.

Tinker as u all would've known, is well known for it's gay refreshing skill which refreshes almost everything with exception for necronomicon. Imagine the necros u can summon if it can be refreshed.

Storm spirit has been quite a popular hero lately as the hero can be quite annoying late into the game. Countless flying here & there either for attacking/defensive purposes really annoy the shit out of u. And there's no way an enemy can escape from ur clutches if they're dying.

Krobelus is perhaps one of the most underestimated hero. Well known for it's pushing abilities, not many have known that krobelus can be quite a killer. Instead of summoning spirits for the towers, it's used to hit heroes instead. Added with it's 5 sec cooldown 300 dmg wave which consumes so little mana, it can certainly farm very quickly, and harass enemies non-stop. The spirits will settle the late game issue. Must get bloodstone, shiva and heart. As long as u can outlast any hero, u wont be dying so easily. Hex is a bonus especially for escaping heroes.

If any required a sample replay against players I would gladly provide them. =)

Finals

Finals coming.. about 2 months away.
Preparations are lousy. Resort to using an emergency act on issues that could've been handled by the courts (although some people question the neutrality). Why don't investigations been done first before deciding on things like this? Is it really a national security issue? Or there's another reason for it?

Blogger arrested for speaking out his opinions, MP arrested for alleged reasons and reporter arrested for reporting a fact, while the arrogant culprit escapes with a 3 year holiday although persistently insist that he did nothing wrong. Nothing wrong? Then why arrest the journalist? What is wrong then? I thought the PM said reporters should report truth without any fear? Why is everything contradictory now? And blogs should be a platform for one to express his or her thoughts/opinions. Would anyone in their right mind go around arresting people that offer some different opinions over things? And for the MP, if the MP did something wrong, why don't just charge in courts?

I am utterly speechless. Although the reporter is already released, the damage is already done. Take care as in to brief them about what clinical years are about. To explain to them about the basic steps of everything. That would be 2 years from now...2 years, it wouldn't be long, trust me. Time flies.

Me n PS are really privileged to have ManChin n SzeEn as our buddies. Both my buddies MC & SE have been treating me n my co-bud really well. They sacrificed personal time just to teach us about clinical medicine. Though they are going to have their exams back then, they still made time for us. MC especially spent lots of her time on us. She kept saying...

"Please study when you all are in Klang. I wouldn't want you both to repeat my batch's mistakes on not studying really hard back then. Now we kinda regret for playing around as there's PLENTY of free time in Klang."

Well, I guess she hoped that we would do better than her, some way or another. She taught & brought us around very very often. It was so often that the other seniors were wondering if we're bugging MC for ward rounds. HA!

SE had better patience compared to MC (HAHAHAHA!) as MC tends to 'drill' us for mentioning the wrong diagnoses or cause. It's just very typical of her. With most of my coursemates back to their respective hometowns, I'm surely a dull boy; not helped by the fact that my friends here were occupied by their own stuff since our holidays are different, both period n length.

Well, just a blink of an eye, one year has nearly passed. Plenty of things happened. Plenty. Just makes me lazy to list everything out. Anyhow I shall gear up fr the new year, hopefully as time moves forward, I too move with it, move for the better.

Weird and Ironic...

NEWS is indeed news. Strange stuff may happen, some may even out of one's imagination. I guess things can't go any funnier, but they do at times... heheee...

Me myself too am contradicting myself. In my previous post, I thought I stated not to think so much about Diablo and focus more on my studies. Well, it turns out to be another way round. Now, I've got my hands on the software and reinstalled everything...hehe...

On the other hand, the general population do have some news to share. Firstly, have you ever dreamed of flying to Singapore from KL without needing a single cent or involving yourself winning any tickets? Well, this guy (err, weirdo or desperado??) managed to land on Singapore from Kl...the hard way (LOL)! For your information, the guy sneaked not onto the passenger seats, but he hid at the front wheel well of the plane. I guess he's lucky enough to stay inside there until Singapore. I couldn't imagine what would happen if he fell out when the plane's on air. Or maybe I could imagine...he would just be some sort of human "watermelon" that would smash into pieces if he drop down. Anyhow, he doesn't have enough luck to avoid falling down when the plane lands down at Changi Airport. Thanks to it now he's being remanded by the Singapore police for investigations...sad sad...anyhow the link's HERE!

Well, there's another mind-boggling news here. I wouldn't want to comment much on it. I'll just leave the link HERE. How ironic. Hehe... I'm pretty sure you guys are smart enough to figure out yourselves. I guess thats all for now... it's already 6 am and I gotta sleep LOL (I'm just so nocturnalizeddd...gotta revert before school reopens)

Distractions...

I’m so damn screwed! That’s at least for what I thought of playing too much Diablo 2 on my lappie. Been so intoxicated (arghhh…), all thanks to my roommate WS for bringing up the topic about Diablo! Huh..!

Anyhow, the light had as last shone on me, as my Diablo 2 file is now corrupted (sad… sad….) due to some CD error and patching. I believe I’m supposed to study more, but the urge of Diablo-ing is still very much in me. I could just reinstall my Diablo, but so happen I didn’t bring home the installation discs (hehee… holy intervention? =P ). Still, I’ve gone to great distances to obtain the disc from someone nearby. But I’m quite grateful (and sad at the same time) that the effort does not bear fruits. Sad…sad…sad…

Darn, it’s like caffeine. I need my daily doses (gosh I sound like a drug addict)!

If it’s not for another “distraction”, I would’ve finished revising my Pharmacology by now. Hehee… since I can’t get my Diablo files fixed at the moment, DoTA came into play. LOL! It’s a never ending story.

Nevertheless, I shall try to complete my Pharmacol and Patho on inflammation and neoplasia at least. I couldn’t recall but I do remember that one of my patho lecturers said the pathology of diseases you can see clinically is generally divided into inflammation (acute or chronic) and neoplasia (benign or malignant). Therefore, I must really keep to my timetable and complete what I’d plan for this 1 week holidays.

At this rate, I guess I’m gonna flop if I continue blogging, surfing the net and gaming every now and then. Nah...just another version of it

10TH of October, 10 pm, all of us grouped up, eager to go to this 'The Ship'. What was (yeah WAS) in my mind when my labmates mentioned about dining (or more like supper) at The Ship earlier, the first thing that came to my mind was "Are you guys really sure of that?? Of course you need to pay for quality food, but I wouldn't mind.". I was kinda sceptical that everyone would agree to it for certain reasons. And we're still students, lacking cold hard cash (sad story.... LOL).

To be honest, I expected we all to be in the REAL The Ship that night. I was then told we're heading to this 'Kapal'.

"Huh? Kapal? Kapal not ship meh??"
"Kapal la, somewhere in Kampung Baru"
"There got The Ship ah? I thought there's one in KL, somewhere near to Sogo, no?"
"No, no... It's another one. It serves steaks and stuff too"

Where the heck is Kampung Baru by the way?? He said it was somewhere near to KLCC and I was like OKAAYYYY...

So we drove, and reached there about an hour later. No, we're not from outstation...we're just from PJ. Haha, all thanks to the lead driver, all of us tagging behind lost him. Anyhow, hope is still there, at least we managed to get there (by luck! and a little bit of help through the telephone) although we should've reached half an hour earlier.

The place is not bad afterall. Although it couldn't compete with the REAL The Ship (duhh...how to compare), but it has a nice atmosphere and good food at an economic price. Just the right place for students like us. For photos of the place, click HERE. (Hehe... I'm promoting your blog Bong, you wouldn't mind don't you? =p )

At the end of the day, we managed to fill up our empty stomachs and went back happily; not too bloated, not too empty.

PS: On the way back, me & Mr. B were being stopped for "speeding". It's near to 1 am and all the cars moved at around the same speed as us, how could we be speeding? (we moved at around 90+ kmph, but the limit was 80 kmph LOL). Such bad luck. It was my first "traffic offence". Rules are still rules I guess, but I find it a little strange to drive at 80 kmph on a nearly empty 3 lane highway....YUP...HIGHWAY!!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://chankinwong.blogspot.com/2007/10/ship-nahjust-another-version-of-it.html' title='The Ship? Nah, I like the blogging feeling you see. I'm just being a noble and generous lad who shares his thoughts (haha, doesn't sound useful though) with others. Well, SHARING is CARING doesn't it? That's what Ben would say everytime he overheard one's conversation. Of course, who cares about him? LOL!

Was like looking through the paper few days back when I saw an article on FOOD! Titled Bite into History which features FAMOUS (yeah, FAMOUS!) places that were associated with a certain food from all over the country. It's a good thing I had my dinner before looking at the article, I surely wouldn't welcome the sudden conditioned reflex and start drooling over food, imaginary food acquired through the read. Although I'm a native of KL, I didn't really know about the existence of these so-called FAMOUS places in my own hometown! Except maybe for Coliseum Restaurant. I learnt that it's well-known for it's steaks but the sad part is I get to know of it through a non-native friend. What have I done staying in KL throughout these years??? I don't even know much about the place.

Anyhow, more can be read about those I mentioned above in http://www.thestar.com.my/lifestyle/story.asp?file=/2007/8/25/lifeliving/18649551&sec=lifeliving
Even marijuana is not spared from becoming a food name since there's this Nasi "Ganja"!

ARGGHHH!! I'm still very much bored. Felt like weeding my head off. Muahahahaha. Oh yeah, I had a few coursemates of mine saying that I'm a changed person nowadays. I was said to become EVIL-er; pounding on unsuspecting victims with my powerful but few choices of words (I'm so so sooo not good with words =( ). Even my OWN little buddy stressed on that point. After all I've did & help her... HAIHHHH...disappointing (LOL!)

Oh yeah, on 31st of August, everywhere seems to be very merry; happening & of course... CROWDED! I feel I'm just being too kind & helpful to my little buddy!!! (and there she goes telling everyone how good I am at cursing) Other little buddies are supposed to get gifts for their Dr. Seniors on their own...YEAH ON THEIR OWN! Somehow me & my co-buddy got 1 of the gifts for her, and the 2nd gift...I fetched her to Midvalley for her to get the convocation present. She was so damn lucky...during my time, me & my co-buddy did everything on our own without intervention or help from our buddy line seniors. How pampered. HEHE...

The night before, there we are, partying (actually nothing also...just go see see only) throughout the day since 11am. For the first time in my life, I actually catched 4 movies, YAH 4 MOVIES in a single day. That's like madness. We watched 3 movies back to back until dinner time. The first 3 was Secret, The Invasion & Rogue Assassin. Personally, I feel that The Invasion is worth watching (I didn't mean Nicole Kidman & Daniel Craig). Interesting story-line & idea although most of my friends felt disturbed after watching it...LOL! It's a MUST-WATCH! Rogue Assassin by Jet-Li was kinda like...errrr...you know, action-packed till the last minute. They didn't focus much on the story-line or maybe we're just too fatigued to concentrate! All I could remember was the shooting & fighting scenes. Only knew the story-line roughly. But it's just uncomparable with The Invasion. They have this "Do not trust anyone. Do not show emotion. Do not sleep." tagline. At first glance, I was like "huh? Do not sleep? Was that aimed at the audiences?". Just find it kinda odd & funny at the same time. Anyhow it was certainly not aimed at the audiences. You shall see.

I watched my 4th movie, Evan Almighty with HER. We needed some break you see. After all those hours in front of the giant screen, we needed something light & more straight to the point without complex plots. Evan Almighty indeed fulfilled the criteria that we seek, although I find it a little boring, with anticipated plots... that doesn't matter much. As long as SHE's there too =p LOL

PS: to all friends,ehehehehehe...

Things About Me That You Would/Wouldn't Want To Know

JUST shifted over from friendster's blogs. I guess blogging here would be much better compared to friendster as friendster's blog is just plain boring; besides sometimes friendster would somehow fail to post the blog that one just typed...making me to re-type everything from scratch. Prefer spontaneous action, re-typing is like...BOOORINGGG!! I guess it's best for me to re-live some of my moments as starters. Here's a few of things you would/wouldn't want to know about me:

No. 1
When I was young (around 7-9 y/o), I used to be a very kiasu chap, reading and studying whenever I get the chance to. Although I'm not the studious type, I have to thank my mum for supervising me strictly throughout the 3 years. Whenever I have free time, my mum would come to me and ask me questions...not to mention, my mum will check all my homeworks everytime I come back from school EVERYDAY! She makes sure that every work of mine is done; and there's no escaping or excuses. Well, I was just a kid back then, would just oblige with every single instruction given by mum (she's a strict person...used to be). Everything went on very well and effortlessly, I was one of the best students of my year; getting number ones for every semester. Teachers just love me as I was very very VERY ANGELIC back then! Really. No shits. I had this PTS examination (some sort of exams back then that enables you to skip standard 4 if u pass it) in standard 3 and, I was one of the 9 in my school that passed the examination, the only chinese in fact (my school has a few chinese students only) to have qualified for skipping standard 4! Imagine the one year I could save on books, fees and TIME. Well, time simply was the deciding factor. And the feeling of superior-ness looking at my peers doing standard 4 while I'm doing standard 5 (Hehe...) just motivates me more. Muahahahahahaha!

Anyhow, after skipping standard 4, I started to turn into a bad apple. I no longer finish my homeworks. Studying feels foreign to me. From the apple of the eyes of my teachers, I started to become a little devil of the school. As far as I could remember, I couldn't remember a single time where I wasn't punished in the class for not finishing my homeworks. I've experienced many different degrees of punishment. Standing on chairs in the class was nothing to me, I have even stood on the table throughout a class. Imagine the attention I generate! Well, the best attention I've got is when I was made to stand on a chair OUTSIDE the class. So happen my class was on the ground floor and some of the lower primary students are having their recess. Imagine how "proud" and "honoured" I am. I bet I must have greatly disappointed some of my teachers during my standard 1-3. All those punishments made me immune to them, I wouldn't give a damn. Without my mum harping over me, I had turned into this little devil overnight. I would say I need constant PRESSURE to perform optimumly.

No. 2
My knack for computers came during my lower primary years. Back then, I could remember we ran programmes on MS-DOS; and the computers during that period all look the same, rectanglish CPU unit with 2 slots for 5.25" floppy disks. It's a black and white world back then. Everything's dull and boring! I wonder how I got so interested in computers, children my age will only be attracted to colourful and sophisticated stuff. Maybe it fulfills the sophisticated requirement back then. Computers were viewed as a complicated kind of thingy, used to. Well, during my primary days, we had this pathetic kelab komputer where members get to learn more about computers at a minimal fee. The room itself already made it look pathetic; small, dusty, yellowish...YAH YELLOWISH!! At such young age, I could clearly differentiate what's clean and what's not.

Don't mind about the room. My first personal computer experience came when my parents finally brought me a Windows 95-based system that runs using Pentium M processor with 16mb of RAM!!! The HDD is just 2gb! It's a big amount back then, now even my thumbdrive is as large as the HDD space. My parents bought the system right after Windows 95 is being promoted in Malaysia by Bill Gates himself. I remember it costed a bomb. Approximately RM4500 for such system with the printer. Well, it's one of my most expensive gifts from my parents so far considering the value of RM4500 back then. With the computer, I started exposing myself to games...YAH, COMPUTER GAMES! Back then, it was the glory days of Starcraft and Doom. I was standard 1 that time. My gaming "career" continued until now. Had played numerous strategy and role playing games (strategy games are my favourites). My hand-eye coordination must be quite good as I've been training them since standard 1 till now. Well, that may partly explains my DotA =)

No. 3
Speaking of my love life (hehe), I could trace it back to as far as when I'm only 8 years old (LOL!). Serious. I still faintly remember about the time during my first few attempts at courtship. Was in standard 2 then. There was this nice little girl (we were real kids back then) that somehow got my attention. Let's call her K. She was brainy, always securing the number 2 spot during my lower primary (I WAS number 1 hehe..) years. Well, of course, no one would gotten him or herself hooked up so quickly. She was also in the same class as me during standard 1. So 1 year was the 'probationary' period that we had (more to MY probationary period). So, we chatted and talked like what normal kids will do, but deep down inside...I guess I'm a little TWISTED (LOL...). So everything proceeded like normal without anyone suspecting of any foul play (duhh...we're still kids) until one faithful day. On that day, a friend of mine actually cooked up this crooked plan of being fortune teller. I believed him to the letter. He said that I was destinied to marry another girl called Marrily (this person doesn't exist!) or some sort like that-lah. Being naive, I was so confident about his predictions and somehow told some friends about it. Since WE ALL ARE SMALL KIDS back then, we agreed easily without even a single question or remark! So much for being NUMBER 1! I couldn't exactly recall how things started. By the time I know it, I was like exchanging messages with K about my newly-found belief. Messages as in like taking turns to write on a plain piece of paper with our trusted messengers moving back-and-forth delivering the messages. To think of it, I guess we both were SO DAMN CUTE that time, exchanging messages. Everything seemed so pristine at first, things started to take a sharp turn when all of a sudden, one of our messengers betrayed us! So the paper were like passed around with me sitting there watching helplessly and before I knew it, MY CLASS TEACHER appeared from nowhere and grabbed hold of that letter. Sensing impending disaster, I can only try to think of excuses...but to no prevail! LOL! I could faintly remember her facial expression that time, something like a mixed feeling of awe, surprise and ridicule at the same time. And the way she reads out the whole message doesn't really help neither.

After that incident, I guess I didn't really talk to girls until I'm Form 4! LOL!!! I just don't know why or more importantly...HOW?? LOL! I only talked to guys, avoiding any form of contact with girls...not even eye contact! HAHA! Now you know how TWISTED I was. Thinking back, I just sounded like I'm gay.

No. 4
Used to be a very INACTIVE guy in my school last time during my primary school days. Life's just about studying and playing computer games. I wouldn't care about the activities organised in my school, don't even bother with the co-curriculum programmes made available by the school for the ULTRA-BORED KIDDO. Everything changed when I entered my teen years. I was actively involved in the prefectorial board and the quatermaster club. Somehow, I seemed to give more priority to the latter and this landed me a good lecture from the prefect's teacher-advisor. If the teacher knew about my primary history, she would know that lecturing me will make no difference...not even punishments can deter me from doing what i liked to do.

Anyhow, I'm still on my girl-evading bravado during my lower secondary. I hardly know or talked to any girl in my class. What makes matter worst is I'm the ONLY guy in the class that exhibits this behaviour, until such extent that I was thought to be gay by some. Hehe. I know all the while I'm just a straight guy, it's just that I'm really passive and SHYYYY ma. Anyhow I'm just glad I recovered from my paiseh-ness and start socialising like normal again. What a relief! Imagine seeing me avoiding girls! SOUNDS SO GAY-ISH!!

Everything was back to normal during my upper secondary school days. I got myself back into the prefectorial board actively, I stopped my gay-ish behaviour and start gaming crazily again. It's a good thing that I'm given a chance by my prefects' teacher to lead the board although I somehow neglected my duties during my lower secondary days. That's why I believe in second chances.

Well, I wouldn't want to crap somemore as I seriously need some sleep NOW!! Need to go for classes at 8 a.m. the next day, it's already 2.30 a.m. now. I guess I'll post somemore about myself in the future...maybe...MAYBE!
